Firan Technology Group Corporation is pleased to announce it has been selected for the engineering, manufacturing and testing of “Cockpit Illuminated Products” as part of the NASA Orion Exploration Mission 2 (EM2) launch spacecraft. The EM2 cockpit is the final version prior to manned flight scheduled in late 2020.
FTG will be providing the EM2 cockpit products directly to a major OEM who is a subcontractor to NASA - Lockheed for the Orion project.
The engineering and production of these cockpit products will be undertaken at FTG’s US based operations. The engineering development unit portion of the work commences immediately and will be completed over a period of about 6 months. The flight portion will continue over a period of about 18 months.
“Manned space missions require the highest quality and reliability and we are honored that we have been selected to design, build, test and deliver equipment for this exciting program,” stated Brad Bourne, President and CEO, FTG Corporation.
The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (Orion MPCV) is an American interplanetary spacecraft intended to carry a crew of four astronauts to destinations at or beyond low Earth orbit. Currently under final development by NASA, Orion is intended to facilitate human exploration of the moon, asteroids and of Mars and to retrieve crew or supplies from the International Space Station if needed.
