EMA Launches Ultra Librarian Reference Design Cloud
November 13, 2018 | EMA Design AutomationEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
EMA Design Automation announced the release of its Ultra Librarian Reference Design Cloud, giving engineers easy, web-based access to reference design schematics enabling faster design starts. The first set of reference designs is available for TRINAMIC Motion Control ICs. At the same time, schematic symbols, footprints, and 3D models for all Trinamic components have been released on EMA’s industry leading, manufacturer verified, EDA Model Cloud. “Working with Trinamic to provide reference design schematics and create their EDA models gives design engineers the highest quality EDA content possible,” said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA. “In addition to our meticulous creation and rigorous testing techniques, every model is verified by the engineers at Trinamic to ensure that they work perfectly in more than 25 EDA output formats delivered by Ultra Librarian.”
Trinamic provides ICs and microsystems for embedded motor and motion control. They are helping to enable the trend towards automating all aspects of the human environment that has resulted in an explosion in the deployment of controlled motion systems. TRINAMIC Motion Control components are used in desktop manufacturing, healthcare devices, laboratory automation, surveillance cameras, robotics, the physical cloud, and anywhere else reliable positioning is required.
Engineers developing products requiring motion control can now easily specify Trinamic ICs in their designs, with access to schematic symbols, PCB footprints, 3D models and reference design schematics from the cloud. With the Ultra Librarian Reference Design Cloud, engineers can search and review reference designs online. If desired, they can even make changes and download a modified schematic in OrCAD. Reference designs can be exported to any of the supported EDA tool formats, including Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, Mentor PADS Logic, and Mentor DxDesigner, providing the fastest method of getting verified circuitry into a design. The Ultra Librarian Model Cloud allows design engineers to download schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models for all Trinamic components. Ultra Librarian is the industry’s most comprehensive, verified EDA model library providing free access to more than 15 million part numbers for download.
“Our technology makes it easy for people to add world-class motion control to their products,” said Jonas Proeger, marketing director at TRINAMIC Motion Control. “With this new integration to Ultra Librarian, engineers have easy access to verified correct models and circuitry, making their job easier and reducing errors caused by manually creating part models and building support circuitry.”

They explain how PCBflow functions, from the designer’s and manufacturer’s viewpoint, and how this database helps break down the wall between these stakeholders.
Elementary, Mr. Watson: Ensuring Design Integrity
03/28/2024 | John Watson -- Column: Elementary, Mr. WatsonBack in February, many of us watched the "Big Game." It reminded me of the saying, “It's not how you start that is important, but rather how you finish." It is perfectly okay when you are talking about sports, you get off to a bad first half and need to recover in the second half. However, when it comes to PCB design, this is not a good practice. If things start badly, they usually don't recover. They continue down that same path, costing more money and losing design time.
